April 9, 2011 Green Turtle Cay to Powell Cay

We enjoyed a leisurely morning and did some chores while we were in the marina.  Laundry and defrosting the freezer were done and the boat was washed for the last time prior to our crossing back to Florida.  We loaded Andiamo's water tanks at the marina and on the way out of the harbour we stopped at a nearby fuel dock and filled up.  We travelled north 14 miles to Powell Cay which was known for its shelling.  We arrived mid-afternoon, dropped the dinghy, and off we went in search of shells and coral for snorkeling.  We did find the beach on the other side of the Cay from where we anchored and a variety of shells were found.  Live conchs along with sand dollars, sea biscuits, and beautiful starfish were all there for us to enjoy.  We went back to Andiamo for a swim and to snorkel around our boat and we saw a lot of sea biscuits beneath us. We finished off the evening by listening to Martha blow her conch horn at sunset in the distance!
