October 29, 2010 Fishing Bay to Norfolk

Today was another early day leaving at 7am.  It was quite windy in the early morning but our new anchor held well and we didn’t move.  Our goal was to be in Norfolk at the Tide Marina in the afternoon.  We had high winds and we did not attempt to put up the sails.  We just rolled with four to five foot seas until we passed the York River.  Norfolk was only a few miles away and we started seeing all the Navy ships in anchorages.  What a sight!  We did arrive at the marina and we fueled up. John washed the salt water off the boat.  Pekabu (one of the boats in our group) just happened to be in a slip next to friends of theirs from Annapolis.  This couple had sold everything and was sailing their boat to Tampa to accept a job at Tampa General Hospital.  We all went to dinner together at a local restaurant.
