November 17, 2010 Savannah, GA

Today we were tourists in Savannah.  We purchased trolley tickets to take us around the city and we were able to get off and on for the day.  A restaurant named “Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House” was recommended to us and the reviews on the Internet looked exciting so we decided to try it.  We got off the trolley and walked to the restaurant where we stood in a line for an hour.  They filled one table at a time and the food was served family style.  Since we were a party of eight, we did have our own table. When we arrived at our table the food had already been placed on the table.  We counted 24 bowls of “something” with each bowl having a different food item in it.  There were foods such as fried chicken, meat loaf, turnips, beef stew, and sweet potatoes.  There were way too many things to list.  We finished a bowl and a new one appeared.  We all literally pigged out.

After our feast, we walked to a nearby garden with a beautiful fountain and then hopped onto the trolley once again to go to the city market.   I think we were all so stuffed we decided to call a cab and go back to the marina.  No one wanted dinner!

  1. Hi Guys!

That dinner table looked absolutely delicious. John, you know I would have enjoyed it. Hope you get great sailing weather for the rest of the trip.
