January 4, 2011 Palm Coast to Daytona

We left Palm Coast around 9:15am to allow Brunelle to leave her slip safely and yet have enough low tide for us to get under the next fixed bridge a quarter of a mile away.  The fixed bridges are supposed to be allowing 65 feet during average water depths.  Andiamo needed 63.5 feet to fit under the bridges.  I knew we should be able to sail under without a problem but our hearts were racing and we still needed to monitor the depth signs at the entrance of each bridge.  As we were approaching Daytona, the homes along the ICW began appearing with lots of piers, with all kinds of boats, extending from the homes.  I’m sure this would be a very busy waterway in the peak season.

We arrived at Halifax Harbor Marina early afternoon with threatening skies and a cloud cover.  It was really the first day we had clouds for most of the day.
Pegg's parents (Ann and Al) from St. Augustine live in Daytona and invited us to their home for dinner.  Ann and Al came at 5, toured Andiamo and Brunelle, had appetizers aboard Brunelle, and took us to their home sitting on the 8th green of a golf course.  Good friends, good food and great conversation were had by all.  We returned to our boat to prepare for an early departure since we were planning on traveling 50 miles the next day to Titusville.
