March 12, 2011Sampson Cay to Emerald Rock, Exuma HQ

We woke up to some wind but not enough to keep us in paradise any longer.  With the help of Pekabu’s VHF, we received our assigned mooring ball in Emerald Rock in the Exumas Head Quarters anchorage. We fueled and watered up and sailed up about 15 miles to Emerald Rock. Upon checking in, we learned that they would be having a cocktail party get-together on the beach that evening.  It was an every Saturday evening event at the park and we were happy to be a part of it.

We arrived promptly at 5:30pm with our cocktail contribution in hand.  We all arrived in our dinghies and set our snacks out on the picnic table.  We were amazed to see and talk to the other boaters that we had seen in other anchorages.  We spoke to Blue Water from Michigan and found out they were on their way to Grenada and they tried to talk us into following them.  Blue Water notified us of the shallow water back in the Berry Islands almost a month ago.  We met boaters from Seattle, Kentucky, and Niagara Falls. We all took our dinghies back to our own boats and were looking forward to daylight savings time which started the next day.
                                            Everyone arriving!
Everyone enjoying the company and all the food!

The Entertainment of blowing into the conch shells!

                                                Our sunset for the evening!
