January 20, 2011 Key West

We had awakened and noticed we were surrounded by a thick fog.  Because we had arrived in Key West the previous night after the marina office had closed we had to check in as soon as possible on that morning.  However, it turned out to be a 20 minute dinghy ride to shore.  Pegg and Jay (from St. Augustine) had driven to Key West the day before so they could watch the Key West 2011 Race.  This particular race is a yearly world class regatta and lasts for a week.  Pegg and Jay were staying on board Brunelle which then extended an invitation to us to watch the race on board along with the others.  We packed a lunch and jumped aboard. It was a little eerie because we were able to see the boats on radar but, due to the thick fog, not in reality until we were very close to them.  Brunelle went up and down the side lines so we could watch all the action.  It was a wonderful day and it was an experience we will both remember for a very long time.
