Those two days were spent doing both chores and relaxing. Laundry was done and Dan, our tour dictator, who now had become Doctor Dan, had come to our radio rescue. John was unsuccessful in getting an electrician to come and re-wire our cockpit radio. We had the part but still needed to install it. Dan came over and spliced it together. We believed it was a permanent fix. We were anxious to find out once we began moving again. We enjoyed a Chinese dinner in the evening.
On Saturday, we did some food shopping and bought more minutes for the Bahamian cell phone. We (Brunelle and Andiamo) decided to check out Irene the lunch lady in the parking lot for our noon time meal. She had been recommended to us from Cool Runnings earlier in the week. She was a woman who served lunch from the back of her black beat up Buick. She had an umbrella over her truck and that day she had the following options: conch stew, chicken soup, lamb’s tongue, and pig’s feet. We took a conch stew and chicken soup. No surprises there! She gave us delicious homemade bread to accompany our lunch. She told us she gets up at 3am to cook and she did that every day. Once she sold everything, she would go home and go to sleep. It had been a Nassau experience to remember.
We would leave in the morning to head one half mile down the harbour to Atlantis for two evenings. Pekabu had been there since the previous Thursday and Brunelle would be heading over on the following Monday.
