We didn't leave Atlantis until 11 am in order to stretch out every possible minute at this great resort. John and I took a last walk around to the marina shops and up to the hotel to walk through the casino, shops, and to the many different and unusual spots along the way.
Expecting north winds, we headed to Highborne Cay at the very north end of the Exumas chain before heading over to the Eleuthera chain of the Bahamas. We all had a beautiful sail and arrived at 5pm. We were expecting rather large waves but they were pleasant with one to two foot rollers and 14 knot winds. Just perfect! We had a water horizon without clouds for our sunset that evening. We had not had one in a very long time. There were always some clouds lurking on the horizon.
Highborne Cay is noted for its beach, cell tower, and clear water. It amazed us that we were looking for the cell tower coverage for connectivity. Even at Atlantis we could not be logged on to the Internet the second day. It all depended on how many computers were trying to get to one communication satellite. A cell tower meant that we could get some emails through John’s Blackberry but we did not have Internet connection. It was frustrating and hard to communicate at times and it was difficult to believe that very few islands had cell towers. We understood that they were increasing in number but it was a very slow process.
We had a nice quiet dinner on board Andiamo to end another wonderful day along our journey.
Happy to see these cell phone towers!
What a perfect sunset this turned out to be!
