We had a leisurely morning; we all took a dinghy to the dock to explore the town of Rock Sound. The wind was blowing and we had some waves in the sound. The ride was a little wet and we had a slightly tough time climbing onto the dock but we all made it. The trip had been made all the more difficult because we were all traveling with trash bags in hope of finding a dumpster. Not all islands will permit boaters to bring their trash ashore but this one did so we all took advantage of that allowance.
We immediately realized how friendly that town was when a woman stopped us a block from the dock and asked if we needed directions. She confirmed that we were headed in the correct direction to the Ocean Hole which was just outside of town. It looked like a very large and deep hole of which no one knew the exact depth. It was connected to the ocean a mile away and it had the salty ocean water rather than the water from the sound. It was one of those amazing geographical points of interest for the area.
We headed to Sammy’s Place for lunch. Every native passing by in a car or walking made a point to say hello to us or to honk his horn. It was truly an amazing and friendly town. We all enjoyed our lunch and continued our search for the bakery and food stores. We did not find the bakery as indicated in the guide books but the food store was still there. We bought some American bread and tomatoes and headed back to the dinghy.
We are all walking to Sammys Place for lunch
The Governament Building in Rock Sound
One of the streets in Rock Sound. We noticed the telephone poles and wires. We have not seen them on any of the islands.
We had a quiet evening aboard Andiamo and watched a beautiful sunset.
