March 25, 2011 Rock Sound, Eleuthera

Brunelle and Andiamo (Pekabu was working) went to shore at 9:30am to begin our two mile trek across the island to the ocean side which was the north shore.  We met Anne and Joe from s/v Walk Short (from Furlong, PA) and they were also taking the walk.  As we first went to see if a music store was open, they went to see the Ocean Hole that we had experience the previous day.  We met up once again on the long hot road to the ocean.  We were walking along the road and Rosie, the owner of the restaurant, was on her way to the hairdresser and stopped and asked if we were going to her restaurant.  We said we were after we did some snorkeling on the beach.  She took three of us in her car to her place, started lunch, and came back to drive the rest of us.  She then went and had her hair done.

The restaurant was on top of a hill overlooking the ocean. We took a walk down the wooden steps to a most secluded beach with white and pink sand. We happened to have our snorkel equipment with us and were glad we did.  There were many reefs close to shore that we enjoyed.  After snorkeling and walking on the beach, we went up and enjoyed a Kalik (local beer) on her lawn overlooking the ocean.  Lunch was served inside and everyone enjoyed the meal we had.

That evening was cocktails on Brunelle as we said our good-byes to Dan and Natasha as they had a very early flight the following morning.  We headed to Governor’s Harbour the next morning about 25 miles further north on Eleuthera Island.
